Wayne E. Teeple formerly of Leesburg, Indiana and a resident of Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, Indiana went to see his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 9:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2020 at Grace Village at the age of 95.

He was born on November 22, 1924 in Oswego, Indiana to Lunettie Olive (Lippincott) Teeple and Lester Isaac Teeple.

Wayne graduated from Leesburg High School in 1942.  That same year he enlisted in the U.S. Army on December 4, 1942 and proudly served during WWII.  He was honorably discharged on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1946.  He then met the love of his life, Gwendolyn Mae Kreider while she was working at the telephone company in Warsaw, Indiana.  They were married by his future father-in-law at New Salem Church on November 7, 1948.  They shared 71 years of marriage together before she passed away this year on July 12, 2020.

Wayne worked at Peoples State Bank in Leesburg, Indiana for 37 years until he retired in 1984.  He worked alongside his wife, who was a bank teller and his brother, Bob who was a loan officer there.  Wayne enjoyed going to church at New Salem Church with his family and friends.  His faith, family, and community were very important to him.  He will be dearly missed by all.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter:  Pamela (Jeff) Carroll (Warsaw, Indiana); and his son:  Pastor Jack (Pati) Teeple (Hicksville, Ohio).  Wayne also leaves behind six grandchildren:  Cami (Phil) Hood (St. Augustine, Florida); Courtney (Brandon) Robinson (Winona Lake, Indiana); Tim (Michelle) Carroll (Waco, Texas); Josiah (Erica) Teeple (Tipp City, Ohio); Joel (Deborah) Teeple (Guinea, Africa); Jordan Teeple (Indianapolis, Indiana);

fourteen great-grandchildren:  Calista, Macy, Gwen, Ryan, Dane, Caleb, Ezekiel, Bexley, Jude, Violette, Eisley, Imogen, and Silas; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Gwen, three brothers, John, Norman and Bob and their wives, and a great-grandson, Titus.

Wayne’s life will be celebrated with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana and officiated by his son, Pastor Jack Teeple and son-in-law Jeff Carroll.  There will be two hours of visitation prior to the service from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.  Burial will follow with a graveside service at Leesburg Cemetery in Leesburg, Indiana with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #49, V.F.W. #1126 both of Warsaw, and active duty members of the Army Honor Guard.
